Our Team
C.W. ARD
C.W. Ard is the founder of Ard’s Appliance. Graduating from a business school in Sumter, SC he was recruited to work at a GE retailer, the local Appliance and TV Store. C.W. worked at the store beginning in 1961 for 17 years before opening Ard’s Appliance in 1978.
With GE behind him, C.W. took a leap of faith and opened Ard’s Appliance at the local shopping center. After four years, he purchased a piece of property and built the store that remains a local staple in the community today. C.W. and Peggy have built Ard’s Appliance based on honesty, friendship and a commitment to customer service.
PEGGY ARD
Peggy works alongside husband C.W. and son Mark at Ard’s Appliance. Together C.W. and Peggy have two children, Mark and Mike Ard and eight grandchildren. Their son, Mike Ard, lives in Sumter with his wife Becki and their three children.
Peggy is from Manning, SC and attended Winthrop University before returning to Sumter and marrying C.W. Ard.
MARK ARD
Mark began working at Ard’s Appliance as a child. He has literally worked his way up from sweeping the floors and serving as a delivery boy at 15. Mark is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, class of 1991. He has worked for nearly 35 years in the family business.
Mark and his family are active members of the Sumter community. Mark attended high school at Sumter High. He is married to Ronda Ard and together they have five children. Their children attend Brenau University, the Medical University of South Carolina, Johnson and Wales Culinary University and the University of South Carolina. Ronda works as a pharmacist at CVS.
BRIAN BROADWAY
Brian is from Manning, SC and attended the University of South Carolina. He has lived in Sumter since 1995 and worked as a general manager in car sales since 1998. Friends with Mark Ard for years, Brian decided to leave the dealership behind and join the Ard family business.
Brian and his wife Hope live in Sumter and have an adult son who graduated from The Citadel. They also are the proud grandparents of their grandson Jackson, and the entire family lives in Sumter as well.
Ard’s Appliance is engraved into the Sumter community.
